With Clenched Fists, I Rage – A Collaborative Poem

I chew on my rage
breaking teeth
on its rock candy
hard edges
I resist
base reflex
to swallow these
jagged shards whole
instead
spitting blood
and shrapnel
hard
into
the unrelenting soil
of injustice

Christine E. Ray

My fist clenches unconsciously,
Noticing only when my knuckles pop.
They say peace and love
Will win the day,
While I’m possessed
By the spirit of Elijah,
Raining down fire,
Divine justice, and rage,
Filled with the desire
To bludgeon bigotry
With a baseball bat.

John W. Leys

Wretched causeway
Flotsam upon my eye
I stare into the mist in wonder
Will the serpent ever arise
Show me your face, foul beast
You tinker and toy with mortal men
Spewing hatred and obscenities with forked tongues
Crucifying anyone who stands firm against them
Justice beckons their immortal fear
Wielding the rocks, I guide my hands
Betwixt the evil and the cowardly
Is I
Neither master nor slave
But a watcher
Rising on invisible stream of energy

Deveraux Frazier

I gnash my teeth
flinted in angst
to razors edges
ripping the jugular
out o’ malignant lies

remind me Maya
soulful and wise
again and again
how heads held high
above that filth
We rise

Aurora Phoenix

My rage coursing through my veins
with clenched fists
enraged as the lava
birthing the mountains
in the blink of an eye,
The seething anger
pulsating in every
throbbing vein
of mine,
My whole existence
shivers and whimpers
at the mere sight
of this atrocity,
Those mendacious protectors
holding reins to this
monstrous political toxicity

Megha Sood

Beware
I am a drop of water
Contagious hydrophilic rage
Slipping into the crack
In your granite
Waiting for winter

Stephen F. Fuller

ends begin when good people
do nothing
beginnings eat the rot
spit out bad seeds
leave them to bloom
in Covid sunlight
devoid of laughter
see what comes? Of
chewed intent and
hope on hock?

Beware, purveyors of injustice, of cruelty, or fear, beware the rage of poets such as these.

Proud to be part of this collaborative poem. “With Clenched fists, I rage” is a deep exposition of the anger and the pain coursing through the veins of our countrymen in these turbulent times.
